The Progress tab within each RedTeam Flex project is designed to let you manage processes while your job is in progress, such as Daily Progress Reports and Milestones. These Progress processes are a compliment to good scheduling. Good scheduling helps to control production constraints, facilitate the timely procurement of materials, and otherwise ensure the completion of a project as soon as possible. Milestones are used as "checkpoints" in a project to evaluate and validate how a project is progressing.
Milestones are handled as part of the Project's Gantt Schedule, rather than via the Progress Tab.
1. Add a Milestone to the Gantt Schedule
When you have the Gantt Scheduling component active in RedTeam Flex, Milestones are handled as part of it. Good scheduling helps to control production constraints, facilitate the timely procurement of materials, and otherwise ensure the completion of a project as soon as possible. Milestones are used as "checkpoints" in a project to evaluate how a project is progressing and validate states of completion. The Performance Overview report can include Milestones to share details about the state of completion of the project. To create new Milestones in the Gantt Schedule, you will convert a task into a milestone with the instructions below.
Steps:
Within the project, click the Schedule tab.
Click the Edit button to edit the schedule.
Right click on the task you want to turn into a Milestone.
Click “Convert to Milestone” from the dropdown menu.
2. Edit a Milestone
Once a Milestone has been created, you may go back and edit it. This is important because by editing you can add even more details; namely, projected and actual completion dates, an explanation, and an action plan.
Steps:
From the Project's Home Menu, select "Milestones".
Or from the Project's Progress tab, click the "Manage" icon and select "Manage Milestones".
Locate the Milestone in the list.
Click the Tools icon.
Click "Edit".
4. Delete a Milestone
The Schedule tab within each RedTeam Flex project is designed to let you manage processes while your job is in progress, such as the overall project Gantt Schedule and Milestones. Good scheduling helps to control production constraints, facilitate the timely procurement of materials, and otherwise ensure the completion of a project as soon as possible. Milestones are used as "checkpoints" in a project to evaluate and validate how a project is progressing. Once a Milestone has been created, it can be deleted only from the Gantt Schedule in the Schedule tab of the project.
