RedTeam Flex - DocuSign Integration Setup & Usage

This article explains how to connect your DocuSign account to RedTeam Flex for the first time. After connecting, your team can send contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and bills to DocuSign for e-signature directly from Flex.

Before You Connect:

Verify Your DocuSign Plan Supports API Access

RedTeam Flex requires DocuSign API access to function correctly. Not all DocuSign plans include this.

  • When choosing a DocuSign subscription, make sure you select an Enhanced plan that supports API connections.

  • Standard eSignature plans typically do not support API access and will not connect to RedTeam Flex.

If you’re buying DocuSign specifically for Flex, confirm your plan includes API capability before proceeding.

Where to Connect DocuSign in RedTeam Flex

Once you have DocuSign login credentials (whether your account is new or already existing), connect it inside Flex:

  1. Log into RedTeam Flex.

  2. Open the Apps Menu.

  3. Locate and click the DocuSign App Card.

The DocuSign App Card is the single place where your RedTeam Flex database links to DocuSign.

Step-by-Step: Connect a DocuSign User

  1. On the DocuSign App Card, scroll to the user connection area.

  2. Select an individual employee/user from the list.

  3. Click Connect User.

  4. That employee will enter their DocuSign username and password to authorize the connection.

After successful login, that user's account is connected to DocuSign within RedTeam Flex.

Choosing Your Connection Method (Admin vs. Individual Users)

You can connect DocuSign in two ways depending on how your company works:

Option A: Connect a Single Administrator Account

  • One DocuSign admin account is connected to Flex.

  • All Flex users can still send documents to DocuSign.

  • Only users who can access the admin DocuSign account will be able to:

    • open envelopes

    • place signature/date fields

    • send documents out from DocuSign

Best for: teams who centralize signature setup/sending under one DocuSign user.

Option B: Each Employee Connects Their Own DocuSign Account

  • Multiple users connect individually through the DocuSign App Card.

  • When a user sends a document from RedTeam, the envelope appears in that same user’s DocuSign account.

  • Any users who do not connect a DocuSign account may still send forms to DocuSign, but the forms they send will flow to the first account connected (known as the Primary or Default account)

Best for: teams where multiple people send and manage their own signature workflows.

You don’t need more than one DocuSign account, but Flex allows you to connect as many users as you want.

How to Confirm the Integration Is Ready

Once at least one DocuSign account is connected:

  • You should see a green “Operational” status at the top of the DocuSign App Card.

  • This indicates your Flex database is fully enabled to use DocuSign.

If you don’t see “Operational,” verify that:

  • the user login was successful

  • your DocuSign plan includes API access

  • Log out and back in to refresh the app card if needed

What Happens After You Connect

Once connected:

  • Flex can create DocuSign envelopes for supported documents. Supported documents include:

    • Vendor Commitments

    • Vendor Change Orders

    • Customer Proposals

    • Customer Bills

  • Users will see a “Sign with DocuSign” button on eligible documents once committed.

  • DocuSign will open in a separate browser tab when sending documents (so pop-ups must be allowed).

(Full sending/usage steps are covered in a separate Help Article.)

Troubleshooting Initial Connection Issues

“I can’t connect DocuSign / connection fails.”

Most common cause: your DocuSign plan doesn’t include API access.
Fix: confirm you’re on an Enhanced/API-capable DocuSign plan.

“Nothing happens when I click Connect User.”

Your browser may be blocking the DocuSign login window.
Fix: disable pop-up blockers for RedTeam Flex and try again.

“I logged in but connected the wrong DocuSign account.”

This often happens if your browser auto-signs into a personal DocuSign profile.
Fix: log out of DocuSign completely in your browser, then reconnect from the DocuSign App Card using the correct company account.

Summary

To connect DocuSign to RedTeam Flex:

  1. Confirm your DocuSign plan supports API access (Enhanced plan).

  2. Open the DocuSign App Card in Flex from the App Menu.

  3. Select a user and click Connect User.

  4. Log into DocuSign to authorize the connection.

  5. Confirm the status shows Operational.
