RedTeam Flex - Using Contract Clarifications and Alternates

Clarifications and alternates give you a way of specifying contract conditions and contract alternates.

Updated over a week ago

larifications and alternates give you a way of specifying contract conditions and contract alternates. These can be added to your contract proposal while the project is in "request" status.

Clarifications are conditions of the contract that do not have a cost associated with them.

Alternates are options on the contract that do have a cost impact associated with them.

For example noting that a dumpster is not included would be considered a contract clarification; adding the option to include a dumpster for an additional $1,000 would be an alternate. Both clarifications and alternates are shown directly on the contract proposal once they have been added using the steps below.

1. Add Clarification or Alternate to a Proposal

A Proposal is a formal, written offer from a bidding company to the Customer that outlines all intended services and materials, and includes written prices and quotes, specifications, etc. This Proposal document may also include Clarifications about the scope of work and/or Alternates to be reviewed and possibly selected by the customer. Should a Customer accept an Alternate, you will go back to the Estimate and adjust it accordingly to reflect the Alternate.

In RedTeam, you can choose from a list of default Clarifications to add to a Proposal (these defaults can be managed in the Configuration menu), or you can enter Clarifications/Alternates specific to a particular Project.

Steps:

  1. From the Project Home menu, select "Prepare & Submit Proposal".

  2. Click "Edit".

  3. Scroll down to locate the Clarifications/Alternates section.

  4. Click "+ Add Clarifications".

  5. Use the checkboxes to select from the default Clarifications and/or enter a Project-specific Clarification or Alternate.

  6. Click "Save",

2. Arrange Contract Clarifications and Alternates

Once they have been added, contract clarifications and alternates can be arranged using the "Arrange Clarifications" tool.

Steps:

  1. Choose "Arrange Clarifications".

  2. Select the alternate or clarification and then use the up/down, top/bottom buttons to arrange the order to your liking.
