Frequently Asked Questions regarding Customer Billing and Applications for Payment

1. Why do I have a warning message there is a difference between the SOV and Revised Contract Amount?

In both the Customer Billing and Schedule of Values sections of a Project, you may in certain situations see a warning message that states: Warning! There is a difference of (a dollar amount) between the total Schedule of Values and the Revised Contract Amount.

This warning appears when the total of the Schedule of Values does not equal the same number as the total Contract amount. You can compare these two numbers to see what they are by navigating to the Schedule of Values for the Project (from the home menu) and scrolling to the bottom of the page to compare the two numbers. The total Schedule of Values is the total of all the line items entered in that screen. The total Contract amount is the amount of the original Contract plus any authorized Change Orders (see Contract tab for the breakdown).

Most often this warning appears either because the Project does not yet have a Schedule of Values, or because a Change Order was authorized but did not have any Schedule of Values line items associated with it when it was authorized, and so nothing was automatically added to the overall Schedule of Values for the Project.

If the Project has no Schedule of Values, simply create one. For instructions and more information on the SOV, see this article: Manage Project Schedule of Values

If the Project is missing the Schedule of Values from an authorized Change Order, you can simply add it manually. Click the New (+) icon to add a line item (or more than one item) to the Schedule of Values, no need to De-Authorize the Change. If you are unsure if the difference in amount is coming from an authorized Change, check the Contract tab and verify the amounts of any previously authorized Changes on the Project. Chances are, the difference in the warning banner matches the amounts of one or more Changes on the Project.
