An example of why you would need to do this is that the code exists for Labor and materials only and the same code is needed for subcontractors

From the top navigation click Profile > Administration

Then Cost Codes> Assign Cost Code

Select Cost Type and Divison Set from the drop downs

Select the Cost Item and click the >> to move it from left to right to assign to the selected cost type

Save Cost Item
